Ultrasonic Cleaning Silicone - Case Study
Component: Silicone Moulding
Material: Silicone
Contamination prior to cleaning: Lipstick residue
Process for Cleaning Silicone Mould:
Stage 1- Galvex 20.02: The tank was filled with tap water and then diluted with a 3% concentration of Galvex 20.02 cleaning detergent. The tank was allowed to degas and reach the required temperature before cleaning. GALVEX 20.02 is a lightly alkaline liquid, used for the removal of polishing compounds in ultrasonic or soaking processes. It is compatible with all metals & contains no harmful components. The batch was cleaned in the Galvex 20.02 with ultrasonic cavitation for a 10-minute cycle.
Ultrasonic Cleaner | Cleaning Agent | Temperature(s) | Concentration |
---|---|---|---|
1. Kemet 30 benchtop cleaner | Galvex 20.02 | 60°C | 3% |
2. Versa Genius+ 120 air bubble agitation Rinse tank | Tap water | 22°C | 100% |
3. Versa Genius+ 120 hot air dryer | N/A | 70°C | N/A |
Note: All stages were allowed to reach the required temperature and degas before cleaning.
Stage 2 – Tap water rinse: Next, the parts were rinsed in tap water for 2 minutes to remove all detergent residue. The auto-purge feature was used during the cycle, this floods the tank with fresh tap water and any residue carried over and maintains high water quality. Air bubble agitation was used; this is a controllable Jacuzzi effective rinsing from the base of the tank, this ensures optimal rinsing and residue removal.
Stage 3 – Dry: Lastly, the part was dried at 70°C for 10 minutes in a Versa genius+ hot air dryer.
